Wilpattu NP

Wilpattu is the largest and one of the oldest National Parks in the country. The Park contains a large number of fresh water lakes, thick forest and scrubland and is home to around 30 species of mammals (including elephant, leopard and bear) and a large array of bird, reptilian and amphibian life.

The Park on one side spans the Puttalam lagoon, Dutch and Portugal Bays. The marine side of the Park contains a stunning coastline, rivers and dense mangrove forest.

The Park is accessible via gates on the Puttalam or Anuradhapura side. Exploring the Wilpattu National Park coastline by boat is also a stunning experience. We can arrange tours with a safari jeep or boat.
We highly recommend visiting the Park. It is an amazing place and you will not be overrun by tourists like at Yala National Park in the south of the island
